Music played a huge part in the first module this group went on. Chris, a member of the LARP family who has a fantastic voice, played the Harp (and Jack/Mal). My only directive to him was “sing whatever you want”. And boy did he deliver!
From the moment we entered the mod and we heard Chris singing I knew it was going to be a good encounter. When everyone in the group started singing along with him as we climbed the beanstalk I was proved right. It is such a defining moment in my memory of this mod. Like, the defining moment.
That mod was the basis of Part One of this story. I had a great time picking out songs that the group could sing along to as they explored the story of Jack. I tried to find ones that both thematically fit the moments in the story and were very enjoyable to sing – because if I’m going to make EVERYONE sing then I better pick some darned good songs.
I realized as I wrote these songs in that music was going to play a part in the entirety of the story. Maybe not in as obvious, over-the-top, karaoke on acid way, but it would play a part. But, I get ahead of myself at this point.
So, I’ll just start the list of songs that have been in the story. I’ll add to them as I go along:
